I'm super exhausted tonight and though I had wonderful ideas of how I was going to present this topic, I'm completely out of energy to implement those ideas now. =-D Soo, to day I am thankful for: Books; and in particular, I'm thankful for the ones that I've been chewing on this year.
*Cross Cultural Servanthood, by Duane Elmer
*Tender Care, by Wilson & Kronbach
*Boundaries, by Cloud & Townsend
*Solution Focused Pastoral Counseling, by Charles Allen Kollar
*Quick Reference Guide to Biblical Counseling, by Clinton & Hawkins
*Caring for the Emotionally Damaged Heart, by John Regier
*The Peacemaker, by Ken Sande
*Culture Shock, by Myron Loss
*You Fish, We Fish, by Janice E. Rowland
*Re-entry, Making the Transition from Missions to Life at Home, by Peter Jordan
*What Missionaries Need to Know about Burnout and Depression, by Esther Schubert
*Behind the Veils of Yemen, by Audrey Grace Shelby
And what's sitting on my shelf waiting to be read?
*Spiritual Survival Handbook for Cross-Cultural Workers, by Dr. Robert S. Miller
*Expectations and Burnout, by Eenigenburg & Bliss
*Serving as Senders, by Neal Pirolo
*Stuck! Navigating the transitions of life and leadership, by Terry B. Walling
*Honorably Wounded, by Marjory F. Foyle
*There's a sheep in my bathtub, by Brian Hogan
And that's barely the beginning of the list of books that I need or want to read on things to do with caring for missionaries(and myself). It's a good thing I like to read, huh?! It's encouraging to look back over the months and see how my "toolbox" of resources is growing bit by bit as I read and go to conferences and meet Staff Care workers from different agencies. God is so good to encourage me as I study and take in a lot of information. I'm so thankful for books that I can read and learn from and for a mind that likes to take in information in this manner!
