29 Days, Day 20

Today, on Day 20 of 29 Days of Thankfulness, I'm thankful for Nova*s Bakery and Coffee Shop. Silly, I know, but we're to be thankful for everything, right? I've loved Nova*s for years and missed it while I was gone. It's an almost daily destination, with me heading down there most afternoons, work in tow. It's three blocks down and one block over from our house, so I almost always walk. With me doing much more "stationary" work now, in the form of reading lots of books, studying, and editing staff newsletters, it helps to break up the day and get me out of the house. It's a neighborhood bakery and coffee shop, so after a while you get to know the staff and many of those who come in daily. I actually met one of my supporters in there years ago, became friends with her, and now she and my mom do bible studies together. I drink the cheapest stuff that I can on a daily basis, whether it's hot tea, iced coffee, or just regular drip, with a weekly treat of a super charged sugary, fancy-schmancy drink that I usually save for the weekend. I love, love, love their bagels and scones, but since going gluten free in May, sadly have not consumed one of those delectable items. I usually allow myself one treat a week that contains some gluten, but since those are entirely flour, those aren't on the list of "cheatables." Instead, I've gotten stuck on their Macaroon Bar, which is made of oats, coconut, caramel, nuts, and drizzled in chocolate. It's delightful and doesn't set my sinuses off too terribly much. Anyway, I could keep on writing of my love of Nova*s, but I shall stop here, extremely thankful for the Serbian bakery in my neighborhood. Y'all, come on by!
