Today, on Day 30, I'm thankful that it's the last day of the month and of this little project! These things always seem like a good idea to me, until I have to do it every single day for 30 days. =-D
Today I'm thankful for the Christmas season. I'm thankful for the decorations that are going up, for the lights that are being strung, for the crispness in the air, for the parties that are being planned, for the Christmas trees I've seen on top of peoples' cars, and for the reason for this season. When you really think about it, it's heart breaking to realize how many people have zero knowledge about why we celebrate Christmas. They celebrate feelings, and tradition, and food, and giving and getting presents. And we do that, also, of course. But, whereas they celebrate with no hope, we celebrate the giver of hope, the One who came in the form of a tiny baby, who humbled himself to be both man and God, to live a human life with all of its pain and suffering, and then die, rejected and crucified by those He came to save. But there would be no point in celebrating a Savior who came only to die. Because He wasn't just man, but was/is also God, He conquered death, that we could also live. He, being God, gave Himself on that tree, because His death was the only way that we could live- He took our sin and the sin of the entire world on His perfect self, and paid the price in our place. And because of that ultimate sacrifice, we can live a life of hope- that there is meaning and beauty to this life- and there is more than just this life- and there is reason and a plan for our lives. May you be filled with Hope and Joy and Peace- because your Savior died to set you free.
