I know you're all going to be really jealous to find out that I have a cathedral that shares my name. It was built in 1505 and shut down by the Soviets during WWII to be used as a furniture store. I'm assuming that it's named after the prophetess, Anna. I was pretty excited when I found it on the map, even though it was a long walk down to it. There's also a St. Anna's school right down the street from it.
Church of St. Onuphry, built in the 1500's
The fortified walls surround the church of St. Onuphry, the monastery and the belfry.
There must have been some big ol' horses a long time ago, because these were some enormous gates going into the monastery.
It was interesting to see the beautifully kept up church and all of its grounds and then see this building right next to it(and actually connected to the walls) that was completely abandoned and destroyed.
