Playing catch-up

I'm rather behind on the many things that I planned to post on here. Perhaps I should just scan in the pages of my devotional journal from the last few weeks. Or, you all could start reading the Elizabeth Elliot book that I'm reading, "Secure in the Everlasting Arms," and that would take care of it. I've also had some random meanderings of the mind, courtesy of my sister-in-law's blogsite, but that's going to have to wait until later. Today's post is dedicated to Margaret and Julia, due to a conversation we had last night. I read these for the first time a week ago today. I think they're a wonderful reminder and I find myself thinking of them throughout the day....."oh crud, I just complained again, etc."

RULES FOR CONTENTMENT by E.B. Pusey

1)Allow thyself to complain of nothing, not even the weather.
2)Never picture thyself under any circumstances in which thou are not.
3)Never compare thine own lot with that of another.
4)Never allow thyself to dwell on the wish that this or that had been, or were, otherwise than it was, or is. God Almighty loves thee better and more wisely than thou doest thyself.
5)Never dwell on the morrow. Remember that it is God's, not thine.
