Why Blog?

People blog for many reasons. Some blog for shock value, others to talk about their baby's latest life events, some for fitness, others for cooking. And many missionaries blog to keep people in this age of technology up on the latest events in their ministry. But why do I blog? Well......I blog:

*to let others see what I see & experience things through my eyes
*to share lessons learned
*to share struggles and triumphs
*to share silly thoughts
*as a creative outlet
*to share beautiful pictures & things that I like(like dogs & toilets)
*to keep others updated on where I am
*for those who keep me in their prayers
*because I like it
*to entertain people
*to bless and encourage
*for those who put missionaries on a pedestal- to see that I'm a normal person

I like writing. I like sharing. I like making people laugh. And I believe in living a life of transparency. I don't mean being crude and running people off with brutal honesty. I mean being open and gently honest and caring and loving and living a genuine life full of struggles and temptation and failures and sometimes, downright hilarious occurrences. I think that the Christian church fails each other every single day by putting on facades and trying to look like everything's ok. Let's just be honest with each other and understand that we're all fallen, broken people, saved by the Grace of God. Transparency in our Christian lives will help us help each other, so that we can serve out of our brokenness. And if we happen to encourage someone, or bless someone, or convict someone along the way with our transparency? Well then, all glory goes to the One who's called us to live that life of beautiful, honest transparency.

That transparency. That honesty. That sharing. That is why I blog.
