Bircii, Romania

The main purpose of the trip was to spend time with the Roberts family, serving in the village of Bircii, Romania. Bircii is in the southern part of Romania, about three hours southwest of Bucharest by train or car. The Roberts have been there two years. They have a son in college in the States, the oldest daughter just graduated and the youngest is sixteen. The purpose of my visit was to see their ministry, spend time getting to know them and Lord willing, be an encouragement to them. It was a really great visit, with plenty of time to serve together and just enough down time to enjoy playing games, talking and watching movies.

The Roberts

Mr. Roberts is very skilled at carpentry and figuring things out and it was incredible to see how he had redesigned everything in this 650 sq. ft. home to make the most of the space.

The horse and buggy is still a way of life here and I saw at least as many of them as cars in the village

A beautiful plum tree lined road in the village

Can you guess what they make with all of those thousands of beautiful plum trees?

Another thing that I never thought I would do: play with a mandolin choir in Romania

It was a joy to be able to serve abundantly through music. Over the last three weeks, I've played for eleven different events and gave violin lessons to four girls.

The Romanian Orthodox Church in the village. As is true in Ukraine, the Orthodox church is almost dead in Romania. There are very few faithful and it has become merely a religion of culture and tradition.

A short clip of the youth singing(Romanian is a beautiful language):
